Event information

Celebrating fun, fitness, family and our great outdoor environment, Salisbury.RUN is a running festival suitable for all fitness levels and ages.

With medals for all entrants and heaps of prizes up for grabs join us at northern metropolitan Adelaide's premier fun run on Sunday, 5 May 2024.

For the first time ever Salisbury.RUN event running shirts and singlets are available for purchase! Shirts and Singlets will be ready with bib collection in the week prior to the event. Order your tops early by Jan 15th and collect from Feb 28th.

Whether your aim is to run the iconic half marathon distance of 21.1km in 2024, test yourself over the 10km course, or put your best foot forward in the 5km or 2km events, this is a great community event not to be missed.

Why not gather your own cheer squad and don't forget to watch out for a few surprises along the route?

The Course

We recognise that Salisbury.RUN is being held on Kaurna land and we acknowledge the cultural, spiritual and environmental significance of the Little Para River and its surrounds to First Nations people, in the past, the present and into the future.

The Salisbury.RUN track is a mix of bitumen, off-road paths and a start and finish area on grass. It is a pleasant run along tree-lined creeks and is relatively well-shaded. With a little moisture in the air, the smell of the eucalypts is incredible. The course is mainly flat, but does have a few peaks and challenges along the way.

It is well-marked and will be patrolled by marshals. Runners will need to navigate a couple of metal barriers at underpasses in the 10km and 21.1km courses, but this should not have an undue impact on times.

Please note this is a shared public path. Where possible stay to the left of the track to allow bicycles and fast runners to overtake easily.

We are thrilled to conduct Salisbury.RUN as an inclusive event. We are welcoming to all entrants including those who might be sight and hearing impaired. We also welcome members of the Frame Running Community. As a result, we request you keep dogs at home, unless they are assistance animals.

If you are using a stroller, please start towards the rear of the pack and stay to the left.

Prizes

There's a $750 first prize up for grabs in the half marathon, with $500 second place and $250 for third.

In the 10km, there's a $500 first prize, $300 second and $150 for third.

5km and 2km races are currently being arranged.

Timing & results

Salisbury.RUN 2024 will be electronically timed. Please note, the results will be GUN time and not net/line time.

The first 3 male and female finishers will be based on gun time, ie as they cross the finish line. There will be no dead heats. The judge will make every effort to make a decision visually. In the event that the finish is too close for this, the net time will determine the placings. The judge’s decision will be final.

Results will be published on our website as soon as possible in the days following the race.

We will advise via our social channels when they become available.

Important: Please look at the directions on the back of your bib on how to wear it properly. Otherwise, your time might not be recorded or may not be accurate. Wear it at belly height, not chest. And refrain from reaching across it to turn off your watch until after you pass the timing area because this interference can stop the timing device from picking up the required signal.

Cut-off times

Salisbury.RUN is run by volunteers and it is important we don't have volunteers waiting on course unnecessarily. After the cut-off times, participants may continue self-supported at their own risk and may not be deemed an official finisher. The cut-off times for the half marathon is 3 hours and for the 10km the cut-off is 90 minutes. For the shorter 5km and 2km events you will be able to comfortably walk the event and finish before the half-marathon cut-off time of 10:30am.

Race Maps & Start Times

Shared Tracks: Please note these tracks are on shared public paths. Where possible stay to the left of the track to allow bicycles and fast runners to overtake easily.

Half Marathon Start Time: 7:30am

The half marathon begins at Carisbrooke Reserve then heads west along the picturesque Little Para River, taking in the many parklands the region has to offer.

The course passes to the southern side of the Little Para Golf Course on it's way to Port Wakefield Road. Utilising pedestrian underpasses and road closures, the half marathon winds its way just beyond Port Wakefield Road and then returns to join back with the Carisbrooke Classic 5km loop.

Post race

After you cross the line, please keep moving to the top of the finishing race. It's important to the accuracy and reliability of the timing system that you keep moving well past the finish line to the barriers at the end. Once you're there, pause to catch your breath as you need to and then follow the path of the barriers out into the village.

Refunds and transfers

There are no cash refunds - a race credit can be provided for the following year's Salisbury.RUN, when Salisbury.RUN has been advised by 11:59pm on Sunday March 31, 2024.

Transfers to a different race distance can be done online up until 11:59pm on Sunday April 28th, 2024. No refund will be given when transferring to a lower cost event. Transfers to more expensive events will require payment at the current entry fee at the time of transfer, less the amount already paid.

Bib pick up

This year, we are making bib collection easier by adding additional options.

Bib pickup will be on Thursday 2 May from 5pm to 8pm at Intersport Salisbury. The store is in the Parabanks Shopping Centre with most-direct access via the 'Big W' entrance.

Alternatively, bibs will also be available to pick up at the event on the morning of the race. We recommend arriving 1 hour prior to your event start time in order to allow plenty of time to pick up your bib. You may need to park a few minutes walk from the start, so please allow sufficient time to walk to the start location as well.

* Under no circumstances should bibs be swapped or given to unregistered participants

Toilets

Toilets are located at the start/finish of the race (two ambulant, four unisex, and one standing-only).

10km and 21.1km runners have additional toilets at Pioneer park - approx. 3km and 7km (10km course)/18km (21.1km course).

The 21.1km course also passes toilets at Salisbury 3 Par Golf Course - at approx. 6km and 15km and Harry Bowey reserve - at approx. 18km.

Toilets located along the race route will be well marked on the route to help you locate them.

Water Stations

There will be four water tables provided located approximately every 2.5km along the route. There will be bins provided shortly past the table for you to dispose the cup into. Thank you for attempting to be accurate in your throw!

Car parks

There are a number of car parking options. The main car park is accessible from Main North Road. Overflow parking will be available across the road next to the Old Spot Hotel.

From there, pedestrian access to Carisbrooke is available through an underpass. Limited street parking is available on the slip road near the car yards, soon after the petrol station. Please note that the 'top' carpark will be full by 6am with volunteers and marshals.

Bag storage

We will be available to help store bags/valuables at the kiosk located near the registration desks from 7am onwards. While we will do our absolute best to keep everything as safe as possible, we cannot be responsible for anything lost or stolen at the event.

Please consider this when planning what items to bring along on the day.

First Aid

St John's First Aid and a team of First Aid volunteers will be available at the event including two mobile First Aid responders on bikes. Should you require attention or pass someone in need of help please alert the closest Marshal.

It is the individual's responsibility to be prepared for this event. Please take adequate precautions. If you have a pre-existing condition that requires medication or special care, for example, bringing Ventolin should you be asthmatic.

Sustainability

We care about the environment. Environmentally friendly cups will be used at our refreshment stations strategically positioned throughout the course. However, entrants are encouraged to bring their own multi-use water containers to refill.

For those who use gels for that extra bit of energy, please consider holding on to the packaging until you see a refreshment station or retain the packaging until the end of your event.

Presentations

Presentations will begin from about 9.30am with the crowning of male and female half marathon winner. Breaking with tradition we will call male and female winners and placegetters of all events in tandem.
